People have often joked with me, asking if I had come out of my mother's womb lifting weights. Well, not exactly but pretty close. On December 29th, 1975, in Dallas,
Texas, I was born to the union of Johnny and Marie Roberson. I grew up in the small, North Dallas community of The Colony. At an early age I developed a strong love for athletics. During my school years I participated in wrestling, football, basketball, baseball, track, and soccer. I have always been an athlete. I worked hard, had strong discipline, and kept my ears open to my coaches requests. During my junior and senior year of high school many scouts came to watch me play. Athletic scholarship opportunities presented themselves from various schools, but I declined and accepted a full vocal scholarship, singing, my other passion. I was the only athlete in jazz choir at Trinity. I looked out of place, but I was feeling great. With the choir I had many opportunities to travel the country and share the joy of music. I had it made; a scholarship, the center stage. However, my heart still tugged me towards athletics. I took a couple of weight-training courses and continued to work out religiously on my own. During this time I noticed I had a deep passion not only for sports, but physical fitness as a whole. People asked me if I would help them workout. They questioned me for advice on eating, cardio and weight training. I fell in love with helping others. I saw self esteem improve, health increase...lives changed forever. My interest in health and fitness rocketed. I changed my major to anatomy and physiology. I quickly became a singing, health and fitness junky.
Today, I have reached my goal of being an accomplished fitness trainer. I love what I do and know how to make a difference.
Training is a necessity that involves much more than just weights, including cardiovascular training, nutrition, guidance and positive motivation.
Discipleship Fitness camps for middle school to college age athletes have been an extraordinary achievement. This creative program combines the effectiveness of a personal trainer for weights, with agility, nutritional guidance and accountability. As founder of Discipleship Fitness I strive to provide cutting-edge concepts and applications in my training. I have also been blessed with the opportunity to train various professional athletes as they train to stay in shape in the off season. Also, my staff fitness camps have given me an opportunity to work with men and women in all ages and walks of life. The size or shape does not matter; My goal remains the same...Help people get in shape and feel great!
