I grew up in a small town in Missouri playing competitive sports my whole life (predominantly tennis, swimming & basketball - cycling for transportation). I went to college at the University of Missouri-Columbia where I continued to play tennis. After graduating in 3 years, I taught high school business/computers and coached tennis (a little basketball too). Once we had children (ages 8 & 10 now), I decided to be a stay-at-home mom and just do part-time work from the home with my own computer business. Since playing tennis wasn't so easy with two babies, finding a good gym with a nursery was a priority to me. We moved to FL in May 2003 and I found an AMAZING YMCA . . . within a year of being there, I was already certified to teach Spinning, Kickboxing and Pilates and competed in my very first triathlon. By the next year, I was asked to be the Group Exercise Coordinator and could teach ANY class on the schedule. Although I am capable and certified to teach anything, I feel as though my specialties are Personal Training, Spinning, Sculpting, Kickboxing and Core/Pilates. While at the YMCA, I met several triathletes that offered endless support to help me obtain my goal of completing my first race . . . since then, I started the T3 triathlon team and have competed at the National & World level for multiple triathlon distances, along with earning a national sponsorship from Goody StayPut. Now that my children are very active in school and extracurricular activites, I no longer supervise the instructors, but rather focus on personal training, teaching classes and coordinating the triathlon team.
