Brooke Ballantine

I am currently a third year medical student at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City. I've been teaching spinning for over four years (currently teaching six classes a week at NYSC while in school full-time), and I have a passion for preventative medicine and helping people achieve optimal health and a better quality of life through exercise and lifestyle. After training as a competitive figure skater for thirteen years, I transitioned into varsity ice hockey in high school and went on to play college hockey in Massachusetts at Amherst College (B.A. in religion and geology; cum laude; with distinction). I became a triathlete as a first year medical student and am a strong competitor in my age group, especially in endurance races. Actively involved in running as a member of the NYRR, I finished my first marathon in Philadelphia (11/2008) and am working toward racing in my first full-length Ironman before earning my M.D.
