A native Texan and Houstonian-born, I graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology. I hold certifications with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) as a Health & Fitness Instructor. I am also certified through the Aerobics & Fitness Association of America (AFAA) for Personal Training, Aerobics, Weight Training, Kickboxing, as well as Core Conditioning. I enjoy participating in various activities including basketball, swimming, hiking and water skiing.
I have worked with all ages ranging from kids at Camp Longhorn to corporate executives at Dell Computer to seniors at Sun City. During my four year stay at Southwestern, I was captain of the women’s Intramural basketball team and led us to several 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 championships. My last two years in Georgetown, I worked at Sun City, Texas in the Fitness Center as a trainer and instructor for both land and water classes where I gained first-hand experience with special populations. After graduating, I headed up the corporate fitness facility at Dell in Austin; I got a better understanding of the amount of stress these individual’s endure on a daily basis and the effect it has on their health. My time there was divided among personal training, fitness instruction, and health promotion.
I am currently working for Lake Austin Spa Resort as an Exercise Specialist. In addition to personal training, my passion is learning new ways to develop the “core muscles†of the body. I continue to challenge myself through a variety of certification courses to broaden my range of health and fitness knowledge.
