My name is Denise Sarver.  I am a native of Wichita, Kansas and I currently live in Kansas City, Missouri, where I work for 24Hr. Fitness as a Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor.  I have been personal training and teaching group exercise for over 14 years.  In addition to teaching and training at 24Hr. Fitness, I also present group exercise certifications and workshops at U.S. Air Force Bases for the National Aerobics and Fitness Trainers of America.

As a youth, I was a dancer and a competitive figure skater.  Through high school, I participated on the Basketball and Track teams, and I lettered in Golf and Swimming.  I worked as a lifeguard at a waterpark, and I taught swimming and water aerobics.  In college, I continued to lifeguard, and I also became a Weight Room Supervisor at the ASU Student Recreation Complex.

I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Exercise, and with an emphasis in Fitness Management.  In order to graduate from college, I had to do an internship, so I worked as an assistant personal trainer at AZ Body Sculpting.  I enjoyed it so much, I got certified, moved to Newport Beach, California, and became a Personal Trainer.  I also converted to teaching “land” aerobics.

From these opportunities I moved up into the position of Fitness Director for Shape Up Newport, and Assistant Aerobics Director for Bally’s in Costa Mesa, California.  In the winters I taught snow skiing at our local mountains, and in my time off I enjoyed rollerblading.

As a former competitive figure skater, I moved from California back to Wichita to run the Figure Skating program at our new ice rink.  A Gold’s Gym also opened up, so I became their Aerobics Director.  In addition to my position as Figure Skating Director and Aerobics Director, I was also an instructor of exercise classes for students at Wichita State University, and I instructed exercise classes to our servicemen and women at McConnell Air Force Base.  Plus, I was the Cardiovascular Conditioning Coach for our professional hockey team, the Wichita Thunder.

From Wichita, I moved to Kansas City where I continue to teach a variety of classes, my favorite being Cycle.  I still personal train, and I rollerblade whenever I get the chance, and now I enjoy competing in Half Ironman Triathlons and Urbanathlons.
