I grew up swimming and started competing when I was three. I have always loved the water. In college, as a education major and wanting a Coaching Endorsement, I needed to take a required number of ""activity"" classes. My favorite was water exercise. This was before water aerobics was popular. Along with my Anatomy and Exercise Phys. classes, I learned how great the water could be for exercise. I taught water aerobics for a private club as I worked full time as a leadership trainer and youth coordinator. I then went to work for the YMCA and felt that working at the private club was a conflict of interest with working for the YMCA. The YMCA staff encouraged me to get certified as a ""Group Exercise Instructor"" so I could sub for classes. I ended up teaching on a regular basis and even taught water exercise for pregnant moms. Although water is my specialty, I can also teach bosu or stability ball.
