Bria Tavakoli

I'm a Texas born, New York City-based Yoga and Pilates instructor. I teach movement in a mindful, cheerful, and fun manner. Like many fitness instructors, I have a performing arts/communications background. At one point, my performance art was singing in rock band. Performign in a crowded club will cure a person of stage fright, that's for sure.

In another incarnation, I was a journalist. In fact, I moved to New York City from Texas to attend journalism school at Columbia University. Communication has often been the common thread in my life, and soon a love for Yoga and a desire to share my knowledge with others led me into the fitness field. What a perfect fit! I haven't looked back since, and feel truly blessed to work in this industry.

My experience as an athlete (a regular jockette in high school: soccer, track, cross-country, volleyball, cheerleading), created a craving for movement in my body, and an intense interest in the mind-body connection. I love to share the gift of fitness and overall health with my students: for a class, a workshop, or through years of working together.

Now I have a full teaching schedule, plus appear often on television representing TSI/New York Sports Clubs.

When not in the studio, I love to cook, hike, belly dance, read, and travel.
