Basha Alperin

  Short Bio

Basha Alade, (B.A. from Stanford University and M.A. from N.Y.U) is a multi-faceted artist, healer and educator. She has been  teaching workshops in the healing arts and in African /Caribbean music and dance for over 30 years in the U.S., Caribbean and Africa.

She is the director of ZEYBRAH a non profit cultural organization . Basha enjoys music, and movement and often incorporates them into her yoga practice. She has been involved in the healing art of drumming for many years, and enjoys sharing her wealth of experience with everyone. She is a professional drummer also and has performed internationally with many groups including:  Mongo Santamaria, Roberto Burrell Y Su Kubata, Daily Planet, Tambou-Yambou and Jimi Solanke.  Basha has taught classes and workshops on yoga, yoga dance, and African/Caribbean music, drumming and dance throughout the tri-state area in such venues as:  Brookdale Community College, Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, Monmouth University,  the YMCA’s of Red Bank, Asbury Park and Freehold,  & the Monmouth County Park System. She has taught for 10 years in various fitness and wellness Center centers. (Bayshore Fitness and Wellness, The Club, Yoga plus Herbs, teaching classes such as: yogalates, all levels of yoga, pilates, exercise for arthritis, She is a master reike practicioner and a phoenix rising yoga therapist.

 

Basha is involved in many aspects of healing and healing arts. She has been teaching yoga and pilates in Monmouth County at various health clubs and venues for the past 15 years. She is a reiki master and a certified phoenix rising yoga therapist. She also teaches or has taught children in dramatic expression and movement at such places as the Matawan Enrichment Program, Monmouth County Park System, Children’s Cultural Center and the Trinity School of the Arts.

 

She is also a filmmaker, storyteller, playwright and yoga teacher! She has produced and directed various films and plays for children and adults.
