Surma began playing tennis in his home country of
Nigeria . His efforts led him to a ranking of 5 in singles and 1 in doubles on the Nigerian tennis circuit. In addition, Surma ranked 1013 in singles and 1015 in doubles on the competitive ATP tour. He also was a member of the Nigerian Davis Cup Team. Surma’s abilities and interests in sports go beyond the baseline. He played badminton, field hockey, ping pong and volleyball during his school days. He demonstrated leadership by serving as team captain of the badminton and tennis team. Today, Surma is still passionate about ping pong!
Tennis is more than just a job to Surma. He
unselfishly shares his knowledge about the game by conducting tennis
camps for less fortunate youth through a non-profit organization called
Forehand for Life, Inc®. Surma serves as the organization’s program director. He also is an entrepreneur and president of Global Sports Management®, a business enterprise that is sure to be a success!
