January 2024: still loving teaching fitness classes & personal training at Presbyterian homes!! Movement is medicine & age is just a number!

I joined the YMCA shortly after moving to New Richmond Wisconsin.  After participating in various group fitness classes for a few months; I was encouraged by an instructor to go to a training to become an instructor myself.  I went to a Les Mills BodyVive International standards training in November of 2008.  Since this time, I have been teaching Group Fitness classes on a consistent weekly basis.  I taught BodyVive for YMCA facilities in both New Richmond and Osceola Wisconsin. BodyVive is a low-impact cardio & strength class using a small ball & resistance tube.
Then, I completed training through the YMCA of the USA for "Foundations of Group Exercise."  This led me to an interest in teaching senior citizens.  I've completed trainings for senior fitness classes through the SilverSneakers program. I currently teach Muscle Strength & Range of Motion classes and YogaStretch classes.  M.S.R.O.M. is a class that uses a chair, hand-held weights, a small ball, & a resistance band.  This class helps keep seniors moving & increases their skills for daily activities.
I also currently teach Tight N' Tone three times a week. This hour long strength class gives a total body workout focusing on abs, core & glutes.  We utilize a stability ball, hand-held weights, a step, & mats.
In my spare time, I volunteer for the Multiple Sclerosis Society as an Walk MS Coordinator & Walk MS team captain. My Walk MS team has one-hundred walkers including many of my fitness class participants. Last year we raised $14,500 to find a cure & end MS.
UPDATE: Feb 2016  I am still currently teaching Tight N Tone twice a week at the Centre. I just completed my yoga certification through NETA the weekend of Valentines Day. It was life transforming! I am excited to start teaching & sharing my yoga journey & practice with others. We all need to slow down & really learn to breathe & surrender. Namaste.
Update: Jan 2017 I am now a personal trainer & received my cert through NETA in Sept 2016!! I am currently teaching TNT at the Centre & teaching senior fitness classes through Presbyterian Homes at multiple locations.
Update 2021:Survived 2020; vaccinated & ready to travel! Still teaching at Presbyterian Homes.
