I have been an exercise fanatic long before I stepped foot inside a gym. Throughout high school I learned discipline by running cross country, playing tennis, and managing the boy's basketball and baseball teams. While in high school I began my study of Pilates, and was amazed to see my flexibility and strength improve drastically with time. Upon graduating I completed my lifeguard training and picked up a summer job lifeguarding at the local waterpark, all the while continuing my studies of Pilates and personal fitness. As a Biology major at Tyler Junior College I became very busy, but still found time to work part-time in their gym as a lifeguard, and was introduced to the fitness world. Over the summer I spent 3 months on board the Africa Mercy in Togo as a volunteer, and was able to use my knowledge to give personal lessons to other crewmates. This taste of fitness instruction clicked with my personality and background, and led to my obtaining certifications in pilates, group fitness, and piloxing when I returned from my escapades abroad. Immediately upon becoming certified I was hired by Anytime Fitness Lindale as a pilates and yoga instructor, where I am currently teaching now. In addition to this I take private clientele and teach small classes of 2-3 students. At various gyms I was also introduced to Zumba, and the fun latin dance inspired me to advance my fitness instructing to include dance. On January 30th I will become a licensced Zumba instructor, and begin teaching at my gym. My background in lifeguarding has also naturally inclined me to aqua classes, so I am currently undergoing training to eventually become an aqua instructor. All this to say that fitness has been a lifelong passion for me, and continues to grow as I explore new aspects of the industry.
