Heather Hamilton

Practicing yoga can benefit so many areas of your life.  It's purpose is to give you the tools to make you better... whether it is to heal physical aches and pains, cope with the stresses of daily living, look for a fresh perspective to your work or home life or to improve your performance as an athlete or artist.  Heather's classes take a therapeutic approach to yoga and are designed to build the foundation of a yoga practice that will support you no matter what your current restrictions or limitations. She offers individualized attention and adjustments so to gain flexibility, strength and balance.  Classes explore the specific alignment of different poses and sequences including sun salutations, standing, seated, backbends and inversions; as well as the relationship of movement and breath to quiet the mind.  All Heather's classes are perfect for beginners or for those who want to take their practice to a deeper level.

Heather's style of teaching is founded in the Ashtanga Yoga lineage combined with knowledge gained from her own daily practice and lifelong interest in body awareness, movement and spirituality. She is a creative, sensitive teacher who connects quickly with students building their confidence as they discover, deepen and embrace their own yoga.

Heather received her initial teacher training under the direction of Cynthia Funk at the Yoga Sanctuary.  Since then she has trained and taken workshops with some of the most influential yoga teachers from the East and West including Sri Pattabhi Jois, Mark Darby, Mark Whitwell, Matthew Sweeney and Sadie Nardini.  She continues her studies in Toronto with various teachers and through her connection with Yoga Festival Toronto and the Toronto Yoga Conference.
