Christine Cusato

I was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1978 and adopted by Italian-American parents. I was a very active child that loved to dance and was enrolled in dance classes at the age of 6. Throughout my childhood, teens, and young adult life I was involved in dance in some shape or form. I became interested in exercise at the age of 12 and began doing aerobics videos either that I purchased or viewed on television. I was on track as a freshman in high school and involved myself in dance shows and spring musicals all during high school. I took up speed walking with my friends to spend quality time as well as exercising. I became a member of the gym I would come to work for when I was 23. Instantly I fell in love with group fitness and took all the classes the gym had to offer. Finally I had the courage to ask the Group Fitness Coordinator how to go about becoming certified and soon she began training me which was easy since I had been taking classes with her and the other instructors for years. Next I was professionally certified and secured a position at the gym teaching 3 classes a week. As stated earlier I now teach 9 classes per week at the gym, 1 Zumba class at an elementary school and work 2 days at the after school program at the school where I am a Guidance Counselor at teaching the students Zumba and fitness basics. Health and fitness are my life. I am not certified in all the classes I teach but I was self taught and challenge my students constantly. I do plan on obtaining the other certifications in the near future.
