I started practicing yoga 9 years ago at the age of 43.  It was not my first choice, but my kick boxing class was moved to a different time slot.  Little did I realize at the time, but the yoga class transformed me-- physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.  Instead of breaking down with age, my body became more fluid, stronger, more flexible and leaner.  In fact, I am in better shape now--at age 52-- than I was ten years ago.

Six years ago, I started teaching yoga.  My students have included all age groups--from children to those in their 80's.  My students have also been of all ability levels--many times in the same class.  I believe in the fundamentals of the postures, but I also believe it is important to have fun.  Yoga, when practiced with music, becomes a dance.  Yoga when practiced with a gentle meditation becomes a prayer.  It loosens the body and the soul.  Modifications should be offered that allow those with physical limitations to find balance without injury.  Those who have practiced before should be offered modifications that encourage advanced postures to keep the student engaged.
