2008 has proven to be an incredible year.  On May 29th I had the opportunity to purchase the Yorktowne Racquet, Fitness & Sports Complex.  It is my goal to transform this facility into one of the best training facilities on the east coast.  Currently, I have invested in new fitness equipment and a new lighting system so my team and I have the capability of training all levels of athletes in every sport and maximizing each of their abilities.  The new lights provide the space for many sports to be practiced by aspiring young athletes and every other athlete who has the desire to improve.  My passion to provide the best training opportunity for my own children benefits all members and parents, who can feel good in the fact that they have the chance to provide the best training for their children.  Eighteen years ago as I was strongly encouraging my high school students to excel when they branded me with the slogan “HARDKOHR TENNIS”.  I have now moved to another level.  At this facility, my staff and I will provide the tools and knowledge for every athlete to excel but only if they have the desire and passion to work hard.  Over the years many of my students have worked hard in tennis and reaped the rewards by achieving their goals and winning championships.  This background inspires the new name of the business; HARDKOHR SPORTS AND FITNESS “Where Champions Train”.

Over the years when I was not successful in a tennis match I would remind myself that my fitness level had a direct correlation to winning.  The personal training staff is developing a superior sports training program for all ages and sports so I encourage all of you to take advantage of the program for ultimate success in achieving your fitness goals.  Whenever I fail to achieve goals I am always reminded; “Much Good Work Is Lost For The Lack Of A Little More”.  This facility, the staff and I are here so this does not happen to you.  Ed Macauley once said “when you are not practicing, remember, someone somewhere is practicing, and when you meet them they will win.”   We are looking forward to working with many of you!

I have been teaching tennis for 25 years and have always enjoyed my relationships with all of my students especially the young athletes aspiring to become champions.  I think it is important for students/parents to trust a coach and believe that the coach has the knowledge to take them to another level of sports performance.  When that trust is broken it is time to find a new coach.  My successes, failures and experiences have given me knowledge to pass on to my students.  I have won the York county high school championship in both singles and doubles and was a nationally ranked junior player.  I earned a full scholarship to play division I tennis at the University of North Texas.  I played briefly on the satellite tour before coaching at North Texas and SMU in Dallas.  In 1993 I coached on the women’s tour and at the US Open.  I have won a record 15 singles championships in the York county men’s open.  I was nationally ranked #1 in the USPTA Men’s doubles events for 3 years and #2 in the Men’s 40 & over singles division.  These teaching and playing credentials provide me with the tools to instill knowledge and stroke production into my students.  I am honored to have the opportunity to work with athletes who seek my coaching expertise.
