I am very excited to bring Zumba to all who want to have fun while they get in shape. I was inspired by the fun classes while taking them at our local Y and once I hit my 40s I found it tough to keep the weight off - until I fell in love with Zumba! I took the training in the summer of 2009 and was fortunate to open my own studio in September 2009 - close to my day-job. I am proud that I can help women and men get in shape and haven fun with the hot Latin hits and fun dance moves. From Cumbia to Salsa; Merenge to Hip Hop - I like to keep my one-hour Zumba classes fun and lively. I do a few toning routines with weights and also incorporate a couple of the hottest/latest pop tunes. I have lots of experience teaching new students - as there are always new members joining. Whether you are 15 or 75, you'll have a great time in Zumba. I use the bi-monthly ZIN DVDs to keep my routines fresh. I would love to bring the Flavor of Zumba to you!
I am also a professional in marketing and local fund development. I work for University of Illinois Extension planning and promoting their events, programs and fundrasiers as well as writing grants and doing development for the Rock Island County Extension and 4-H Education Foundation. I am also currently a part-tiime grad student at University of Illinois, Springfield getting my Masters of Public Administration. I have been married to Kent Buckrop who is a 7th grade earth science teacher since 1986 and we have three daughters - my oldest daughter is also a Zumba instructor - so we keep it in the family! I live near the Mississippi River in a small rural area just outside of Rock Island, IL. We love to travel with Hawaii - where my brother resides on the Big Island in Kona - as our favorite destination so far!
