Katherine Touhey

Growing up I was a competitive swimmer. As a high school senior I was an All American and competed in the 2000 Olympic Trials in the 100 and 200 butterfly. I attended the University of California, Berkeley on a swimming scholarship. I was initially introduced to yoga during college and continued to practice after my swimming career was over. After college I fueled my competitive fire by running the Marine Corps Marathon twice. I then started competing in triathlons. I have done numerous races of all distances, ranging from sprints to a full Ironman in 2008. I complemented my running and triathlon training with yoga. However, in 2009 I had my third knee surgery and shifted my focus to yoga full time. I completed my certification with Sarah Lynn at JourneYoga in the summer of 2010. I am currently teaching 6th grade physical education for the Alexandria Public School System, teaching yoga,  coaching age group and adult swimmers. I thrive on sharing the benefits of yoga and living a healthy lifestyle!
