The first step in my transformation was to get educated on proper nutrition. Once I knew what kinds of food to eat and what times I should be eating, I put a healthy diet into place and stuck by it. I began training and set obtainable goals for myself. Knowing that I needed guidance, I found a training partner who was extremely knowledgeable about diet and fitness and was willing to take the time to help me get on the right track.

With a good diet and exercise program in place, I turned my sights toward being able to compete in my first bodybuilding show. I began training five days a week, focusing on one bodypart per day. Also, in an effort to burn off more fat and speed up my metabolism, I started a seven-day-per-week cardio regimen. I take a multivitamin, fish oil, conjugated linoleic acid, glutamine and a few other supplements.

Over a span of three years, my weight went from 310 pounds to 176 pounds. The most dramatic part of my transformation began in May 2007 when I weighed 239 pounds and went on a precontest workout and diet program to reach 176 pounds. I competed in the 2007 NPC Continental USA Bodybuilding Championships, where I won the overall achievement award. I didn't compete at the 2008 Mid Illinois Classic, but I was presented the 2008 Ergopharm Achievement award there for my transformation. I was also transformation of the week on bodybuilding.com in February 2008.

My suggestions: remember that results don't come overnight--it will all pay off in the end, and you will be so proud of yourself. Whether you are dieting to look and feel better or you are training for a show, you accomplished a goal and that means a lot. I love being a personal trainer and helping people achieve thir goals. It is my goal in life to help as many people i can become more fit and healthy.
