| Millie has been training and coaching clients toward a healthier, more fit lifestyle for over 30 years. She made a career change in 1982 when she went from beng a computer programmer for the Dept. of Defense to being a fitness professional. She entered the fitness industry first as an aerobics instructor and then the Fitness Coordinator (managing the fitness class program as well as designing and teaching classes) for one of the largest multi-purpose clubs in the Metropolitan D. C. area. She then was transferred to Denver, CO where she was not only the Fitness Coordinator, but she was instrumental in developing instructor certification programs (standardizing safe and effective practices for fitness class instructors) for area clubs. She was also an aerobic competitor, claiming the titles of "Denver's Most Physical Female" in 1984 and regional winner of the Crystal Light Aerobics Championship (later to become the Reebok Aerobics Championship) in the Mixed Pairs Division. Loving the fitness industry, she decided to expand her expertise into the sales and marketing arena and became one of the top producers for another major multi-purpose club in the Denver area. She then decided to come back "home" to the D.C. area, where her family is, and became the Director of the Watergate Health Club in the Watergate Hotel. Being a single mother at the time, Millie then took a position that would not only eliminate an hour commute (either way) into the District but also got her back into the large club atmosphere that she so enjoyed. She began doing pre-sales (hard-hat tours and the works) for a new 114,000 sq. ft. club in Herndon, VA, only 10 minutes from home. There she became the top sales performer before becoming the Member Services Director where it was her job to "retain" members by helping them accomplish their goals. She was instrumental in the development of the Monarch Approach which was a coaching program offered to every new member who joined the club in an effort to have more people be successful with their health and fitness goals. |
Still having the passion to touch more people and help them with the health and fitness aspects of their life, she enrolled in a coaching training program. Now she could not only teach people how to exercise and eat correctly, but she could assist them on their path to discovering the lifelong changes that they need to make in order to sustain a healthy lifestyle forever. She also became Weight Watcher Leader as it afforded her an opportunity to help lots more people at one time than the one-on-one training environment does. She continues to do the "Eating, Exercise and Energy!" Program at the club part-time and lead Weight Watchers meetings part-time, because she is passionate about both of them, so that she can spend most of her time in the arena of coaching her clients to their success. Millie serves clients in the Great Falls, Reston, Herndon, Potomac Falls, Ashburn, and Sterling areas. |
