kristi sweeney

Dr. Sweeney is an assistant professor and chair of the Department of Sport Management. She completed her Ph.D. Health, Exercise and Sport Science with an emphasis in Sport Administration from the University of New Mexico (2004) in Albuquerque and her M.S. in Physical Education and Athletic Administration from Loras College. While working on her degree, Professor Sweeney worked in the Lobos Athletic Department in both Facility and Event Management and with the University of New Mexico's SWA. She also taught undergraduate courses in the areas of health, wellness, exercise science, and sport administration. Upon leaving the University of New Mexico, she entered into the realm of academia and has spent time Xavier University, the University of North Florida and the College of Mount Saint Joseph. Dr. Sweeney’s work experience also lends itself to the non-profit realm, and she has played significant roles with both former Cincinnati Bengal's running back Rudi Johnson's foundation as well as current Bengal defensive back Chinedum Ndukwe's foundation. Ndukwe's efforts are focused on promoting health and wellness amongst local youth. Her research efforts are in the sport philanthropy and women in intercollegiate athletics. Outside of the classroom, Dr. Sweeney enjoys teaching aerobics something she has done for over 15 years. She teaches a variety of classes including but not limited to step, boot camp, cycling, pilates, stability/core, bosu, aqua, and sculpting.
