I fell in love with fitness while in college, University of Pittsburgh '95-'99, where I started out lifting weights. The inches began melting away and all of my physical fitness test scores for the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) improved drastically. I was hooked! I didn't get my AFAA certifications until a couple years later when I realized I could be both an Air Force officer and a group exercise instructor. I instructed on FE Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY for a few years while I was active duty. Then I had double knee surgery, a year later a baby, and a few weeks after that we moved cross country. I let my certifications lapse when we moved and "life" kept me from re-certifying...I had two more children (three boys in four years) and moved cross country again. It wasn't until we "settled" in Northern VA that I was able to recertify. I started teaching immediately upon recertification at XSport and quickly remembered why I love instructing! It's so fun and motivating being in front of a class. I'm in the best shape I've ever been in and am looking forward to competing in a couple sprint triathlons and a half marathon this year. I truly believe exercising should be a necessary part of everyone's life - as important as eating and sleeping. As soon as I read your ad in American Fitness, Fit Bodies Inc. seems to have the perfect combination - not only can I encourage healthy living to a new crowd of people, but my husband and I can also enjoy some much needed down time!
