- Sasha Rivard
Hello, my name is Sasha Rivard and I live in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and I am 29 years of age and have been in the heath and fitness industry since 1998. I feel that my enthusiasm, optimistic personality, knowledge and the continued improvement upon my skills will help to provide exceptional service to your team. I am very outgoing, positive and always laughing or smiling (as my cardiac patients would say) no matter what the day brings.
Since starting my journey in the health and fitness industry it has led me to my passion and where I am today in the medical field. Today you can find me at the Windsor-Essex Cardiac Wellness Centre working as a Certified Kinesiologist helping cardiac patients with secondary prevention after they have had a cardiac event. In the scope of practice it is my duties to assess the movement, performance and function of cardiac patients in order to rehabilitate, prevent and manage their cardiac disease and disorders. The goal is to enhance movement, performance, function and the quality of life of each cardiac patient. Along with my co-workers you can find me helping approximately 80 patients on a daily basis with their experiences and motivating them to make lifestyle modifications so that they can continue to or start to live a healthier and stronger life. To further my knowledge and to further help others, I have presently completed the practical exam for the American College of Sports Medicine - Exercise Specialist and will be completing the written exam in May 2006.
My journey in the fitness industry started tumbling when I was 5 years old as a young gymnast which I competed until the age of 10. From there I decided to venture of into other sports such as Tae Kwon Do (2yrs), competitive swimming (5yrs), and becoming a Canadian National Fitness Competitor (3yrs). After the years of doing things for myself I decided I wanted to start helping others receive the benefits of being physically active therefore, I decided to become an Aerobics Instructor and Personal Trainer through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America in March of 1998. This is where it all began, helping others reach their goals just as I did. With encouragement and motivation I reached out to as many people as I could to help them make their goals and dreams a reality. Ever since that day it has been rewarding for me to watch individuals attain their goals and be a part of their accomplishments. Just knowing that I have a made a difference in someone's life whether it be big or small is all the thank you and motivation I need to continue with my passion. Most recently, I have discovered the amazing practice of yoga and have become an avid yogini of 2 1/2 years which has helped me to bring together my own mind, body, breath, and spirit to create a unity not only with myself but also with the outside world. A goal of mine is to also become a yoga instructor to provide these amazing benefits to others and look forward to attending the Teacher Training Course provided by Johnny Kest.
All these journeys have paved the way for me and brought me so many experiences and without these I would have never found my true love which is helping others live a longer and healthier life. I also have my parents to thank for being there every step of the way because if it wasn't for their help I would have never been able to experience any of these journeys.
I feel that with my skills and knowledge I will be able to provide your team with a positive, outgoing, and motivating character, and the determination to provide a service to individuals to help them achieve their health and fitness goals whatever they may be.
To close, I hope you will consider me as a candidate for your team, for I know that I am ready to be a member and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Sasha Rivard
Namaste!
