I have been licensed to teach Zumba Basic for nearly two years. Initially, my classes started out as 100% Zumba, but as the number of Zumba teachers and classes increased in my city, I changed my class to incorporate resistance training. The class is called 50/50, with half Zumba and the other half resistance training with bands as well as mat exercises (mostly abs) in a one hour class. I can teach a full hour of Zumba and I can modify the movements for the deconditioned participant as well as older and/or disabled adults.
I have been teaching pole dancing for almost one year. Typically, I teach a six week session, starting with basic moves and building weekly upon those moves until the participant has a routine with pole spins/tricks and dance moves. I am very particular about utilizing proper form so as to ensure the students' safety and to maximize the benefit of the exercise. I also teach one hour "teaser" classes which serve as an introduction to pole dancing for those who are curious or are not sure if they are able to do it. "Teaser" classes also serve well for bachelorette parties, girls' night out, etc.
Occasionally, I utilize the pole in my 50/50 class, enabling the participant to use their own body weight as resistance in various exercises. Again, the student has the benefit of both cardio and resistance training in a one hour class.
In addition to the classes that I teach, I am an avid tennis player.
