Growing up, health and wellness has been ingrained seamlessly into my life. My mom is a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, and my dad kept in shape past his army retirement by running 6 days per week. I was involved in a myriad of sports from competitive cheerleading to basketball throughout grade school, while taking tennis lessons as well. Once I was old enough to drive, I obtained my own AFAA Group Fitness certification and started subbing for my mom’s barbell group fitness classes. Once I arrived at the University of Georgia, I jumped right into all the opportunities that college had to offer. I became a part of a tennis, indoor soccer, and basketball intramural team. I worked as a group fitness instructor at the Ramsey Student Center teaching an Interval Sculpt class, Butts and Guts, and subbing for classes like Cardio Blast and Abs, Core, and More. As a student in Health Promotion and Behavior, I was required to complete a number of internships, many of them including fitness opportunities. I worked in the Wellness Center for Fort Gordon teaching fitness classes of twenty people and assisting participants in the Well-Fit program. While working with St. Mary’s Wellness Center, I led weekly Boot Camp classes, planned and implemented a Kids Fitness Camp, a Cardio Challenge, and a Senior Walking Class alongside a team of interns. Currently, I teach Boot Camp and Group Power for Omni Health and Fitness in Augusta, GA. I will be getting married and moving to Seattle in September, and hope to continue my aspirations in health and fitness in my new home city.
