Cardio Mike was winner of the 1990 Kansas State Power Lifting Championships and timed in the 40 yard dash at 4-4. Although he did not play high school football, he received numerous college football scholarship opportunities. He chose the offer from Hutchinson Community College where he played football and was called by Head Coach Percy, "One of the best athletes that he had ever seen!"
He graduated from Hutchinson with a degree in Criminal Justice. He then served 10 years as a civil servant at Hutchinson Correctional Facility as a Correction Officer.
In 1998, he won the Wichita Toughman Contest and began his training in Mixed Martial Arts making his fighting debut in Extreme Challenge 30 and finishing his opponent in 1:28 in the first round. He remained undefeated as a mixed martial artist until losing to the #1 ranked fighter in the world at the time, Joe Slick
He went on to create and promote his own boxing show, the popular Box-A-Buddy.
Cardio Mike began teaching group fitness in 2003. His "KISSER" Cardio Kickboxing style was an immediate success, with crowds averaging 40 plus, helping to motivate many to attain desired results.
Cardio Mike is now an ACE certified personal trainer employed by Genesis Health Clubs and is still packing every group fitness class that he teaches. His high energy, high intensity, entertainment and exercise style helps so many be the best they can be by maximizing their potential while at the same time having fun.
Cardio Mike sees obesity and poor health habits as one of the biggest issues facing Americans. It is something that goes overlooked as Americans are increasingly getting over weight, having more health related issues due to lack of physical fitness and proper diet. With escalating cost of Health Care that is some what preventable with preempted measures like physical activity. Cardio Mike wishes to be a Champion in Education of good health measures and simple things we all can do to help wage this Fitness Fight to be Fit. Good physical fitness is for everyone, Cardio Mike does his best to help people find an exercise regimen that is at their particular fitness level and that is Entertaining enough to keep their interest. Cardio Mike will push this agenda nationwide and he feels it will become contagious. Soon this Fitness Revolution will become routine and a habit for so many Americans across this great country of ours. They will then apply the appropriate portion control to their diets and avoid sedentary routine, implementing physical activity to help them lead healthy, happy, successful and more productive lifestyles.
