My name is Candace Phillips and I really enjoy the fitness field. I have really pushed to try just about everything that has to do with fitness that I really like doing. I first got involved with sports as a young child. I loved track and field. It was and still is my passion. I started running when I was 8 years old. From that point I knew I was going to do something that had to do with fitness.
Through the years from elementary through high school I played volleyball, basketball and ran track. Eventually I would continue my career in track and field in college. I attended Eastern Illinois University. I majored in Physical Education. I really enjoyed learning about the body and how it works. After I graduated in 2001 I once again continued my career in track and field on the professional level. I ran for the Indiana Invaders Track Club. Boy was that fun. That is at first. As the months pasted I got more into my job as a Personal Trainer at Peak Performance. I decided that was what I really wanted to do. I wasn't getting much hours anymore so I decided to move back home and try my luck there. Well I found out that it's hard to get a personal training job in Champaign. So that's when I decided to start coach track. I applied for a job at my old high school and started coach the hurdles and the jumps. It was great.
After coaching for six years I decided I want to add more to background so I decided to go to school for massage therapy. I really enjoyed this year long program. When I was done I decided to go to peoples home instead of them coming to me. The last thing you want to do after having a good massage is drive. My clients really love that!
So now I am currently coach my own summer track program and teaching circuit training as my church for our fitness/wellness ministry and doing massages.
