Born and raised in Northern California, I began spring board diving and swimming at the age of 4. I loved the water and competed in AAU, high school, and junior college competitions. My passion for fitness started early in life and I was fortunate to begin lifting weights when I was 14 for sports performance. I was also active with skiing, gymnastics, and running.
After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, I spent nearly 25 years raising children and working behind a desk. It became difficult to fit in exercise with a growing family and demanding career. The sedentary office work took a toll on my upper body and I began
putting on weight. My health suffered and I ended up having several abdominal surgeries by age 44. I felt tired, irritable,
sluggish, and foggy-headed every day and it became a struggle to keep up with my daily activities and taking care of my family.
Something had to change.
With help from a nutritionist, I began to carefully consider the foods I was eating. I found I had gluten and dairy sensitivities
and also gave up soy. These changes helped me move to more whole foods and mostly organic. As I began to feel better, I began exercising more. The changes I realized in my wellness did not happen overnight, but as time passed, I began to feel better, have more energy, and take better care of myself. The better I felt the more I wanted to do and I took a close look where my life was headed. Through this process, I realized I needed to change my career path and decided to become a personal trainer in late 2007. My journey to wellness led me to want to help others achieve the same. There were times that were easier than others, and I am so grateful for my perseverance and the support of my family and friends in making such big changes! Making these changes have been some of the best experiences of my life and I am so thankful and fortunate to work in a job that I love every day.
In addition to my work as a personal trainer, I participate it the following activities:
Member, American College of Sports Medicine Alliance of Health and Fitness Professionals
Secretary/Board Member, Puget Sound Wellness Association (July 2010 - July 2011)
Active Member, Junior League of Olympia

Member, Health and Fitness Professionals Network
