Angela received her 200-hour Yoga Alliance RYT certification in May 2012 from Balance Yoga Lounge in Ankeny, IA. Angela attended her first yoga class through a community education program, but at first didn’t fully appreciate its unique appeal. Years later, she rediscovered yoga at the Ankeny Y and became a yoga instructor there in 2010. In her classes, Angela leads novice bodies through flow sequences, teaching the fundamental yoga poses together with careful (and playful!) balance-challenging movements and deep-breathing exercises. Not only will you receive a good workout, but she also strongly stresses the ‘why’ for each movement, enabling you to take charge of your own practice and truly understand the purpose behind your yoga. “It is not necessary to be flexible or strong to begin a yoga practice; an open mind and a willingness to explore your experience is all that is required,” she says. When not on her mat, Angela works full-time as a marketing director. She and her husband, Daniel, have two children and stay busy with family, and volunteer activities, and annual trips to Door County, Wisconsin. "My yoga practice really helps me juggle everything -- it has been immensely beneficial in my life, and I love sharing those benefits with students," she says.
