Lorenita Lucas

Lorenita Lucas has combined her love of training with her love of exercise. She brings her experience as an event  planner,  meeting facilitator and trainer into the exercise studios to enliven students as she teaches cycling, yoga, and strength training classes. Her fitness certifications and trainings include Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), Les Mills, Schwinn, and Silver Sneakers, and she is a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).  In addition to her formal fitness training, she draws from her experiences gained through earning her Master of Public Administration from Baruch College as a National Urban Fellow where her project work included public health efforts and community outreach at a public hospital.  

Lorenita feels that exercise is a three-legged stool: everyone’s life should incorporate strength/resistance training, mind/body exercises, and aerobic activity.  She works diligently to make sure that no matter what format they are taking in class, her students enjoy the moment.  In addition to working in a class setting, she also provides wellness counseling, mostly focusing on physical activity, to get individuals to look at what they wish to change, face the fear of what s stopping them from making the change, declare and visualize an outcome, and set and work toward goals.    Although Lorenita enjoys all of her classes, she finds it a special treat to work with YogaActivists through which she teaches yoga to teen mothers who live in a foster care home.
