L. Nathan Thomas (Nate) received his undergraduate education at Brigham Young University in Exercise Science. During his undergraduate work, he had the opportunity to work on research evaluating the adaptability of muscle fiber types during training. After graduating, Nate worked in corporate wellness as an educator (trainer) and health coach, as a laboratory assistant at LDS Hospital, and as a clinical exercise physiologist at The Health and Fitness Institute at LDS Hospital. Nate completed his graduate education at the University of Utah and received a Masters degree in Exercise Science with the emphasis in biomechanics and metabolism. Nate continues to work at The Health and Fitness Institute where Dr. Massimo Testa recently joined the team and Nate administers performance analysis, stress testing, overtraining evaluation, bike fitting, and biomechanical analysis.  Nate has played a vital role in the recent development of a running laboratory at The Fitness Institute, where runners can receive help in gait, performance, and training. Nate also helps Dr. Testa with training endurance athletes specifically cyclists, runners, and triathletes. Nate has worked with a wide range of athletes from professional cyclists and triathletes to recreational enthusiasts as part of his own entrepreneurial endeavor. During the past year, Nate worked on an independent research study of a nutritional ergogenic aid on elite performance with Dr. Eric Heiden.  Nate has a beautiful wife, a wonderful four year old boy and one year old daughter - that is so cute she gets away with anything. Nate also enjoys water skiing, snow skiing, and has had a lifelong love for cycling and competes at a Pro,1,2 level.  Nate joined the Salt Lake Community College team as an adjunct faculty in January 2010 and was recently hired as the Exercise Physiologist full-time faculty member.
