I am a fitness enthusiast and enjoy a variety of fitness styles and genres. I believe there are a plethora of avenues to acheiving a fit and healthy body. I became a group fitness instructor in the winter of 2007. From there I strived to push myself a little bit further each year as my confidence grew along with my fitness level. I first began teaching Kickboxing and Sculpting classes at my university, Wilfrid Laurier University. The following year 2009-10 I applied to be their Coordinator of Group Fitness where I managed more than 20 employees, coordinated over 50 classes within a weekly schedule, handled bookings, payrolls and the promotional aspects of an Aerobics and Cyclefit program. I offered three unprecedented expansions to Laurier's Group Fitness programs. One of which is an interval class I created which still runs today, the second is an Outdoor Bootcamp Intensive which has gained much popularity and the third is a dance-fitness inspired workout called 'Strip to Fit' that I ran alone for 2 years. Unfortunately no other instructors were certified in that genre of fitness to carry it on the following year after my graduation!
In the spring of 2009 before my term as Coordinator I became certified with DivaGirl Fitness, where I learned the newest and latest dance-inspired fitness genres, as well as attained my Schwinn Cycle Instructor certification. Fast forwarding to today, I continue to push myself further in the fitness industry now gaining contacts with Rosalie Brown, the fitness expert on The Canadian Shopping Channel, who offered me the opportunity to do free lance work with her in January and September of 2011 as well as other fitness professionals such as Ryan Shanahan, creator of KettleWorx and the BattleBag.
I absolutely love helping people on their journey to better health and to the achievement of their fitness goals. It is a very rewarding experience being a part of another person's personal transformation. I strive to employ the mantra "healthy body, healthy mind" because I believe that a healthy and active lifestyle is the key to longevity and a happy life.
Lastely, I am very thankful to have been referred to fitnessprotravel.com by Sherri McMillan, Trainer and Fitness Expert, as she may not know but I follow her positive example and have loved attending a variety of the workshops she has lead at the CanFitPro Conference in Toronto 2010, 2011.
