- I stumbled upon my first yoga class in small town Alberta, CANADA at the local YMCA in 2000 to maintain flexibility, range of motion & endurance after my growing years in the competitive dance community. The challenge of something new, meeting like minded people and better understanding my body kept me coming back to practice - despite the challenges of calming the mind, learning pranayama and incorporating that with fluid movement and safely aligned Asana practice.
The physical benefits of yoga alone invite me back to the mat, every time. Though over the last decades, the identification of & deeper connection with Self, has illuminated my Asana practice, humbled my teaching / guiding perspective, essentially softening my entire outlook on life. Devoting more energy to the philosophical & mindfulness components of yoga have truly re-inspired my practice.
Being an avid international traveler, I knew that yoga abroad would (& will continue to) be a critical element in my journey. After a busy five years in the corporate world post University, I committed to a Summer off of work and left for the SE jungle of Costa Rica to complete 200hrs Registered Yoga Teacher Training. This time away empowered a transformation within me that confirmed I am on my true path, working towards my best self, enjoying each and every breath along the way.
Along this blessed journey I’ve added wife & mama (x2) to my list of favourite titles. Subsequently, my yoga practice, interest and continuous education has led me down the paths of certified Yin, Restorative, Pre as well as Post Natal yoga instructor. Guiding Yoga Nidra & meditation has been especially rewarding ..
To sit with one’s self, connected to breath, observing, without judgment, which layers of the physical & energetic self request attention, is a challenging but rewarding effort. As a yoga teacher, the opportunity to guide fellow practitioners along their individual journey, through Asana, Pranayama & Meditative practices, is a true blessing & honor. I look forward to seeing you on the Mat, around the world.
Namaste,
~ Logan
