Eryn Mayfield Brown is a fitness and dance teacher, dancer and choreographer who draws on her diverse training to give meaningful and enjoyable experiences to her students and audiences. After studying dance in the Chicagoland area for thirteen years, Eryn moved to New York City to major in Dance Education at Hunter College. While attending Hunter Eryn performed in the Hunter College touring company, taught modern dance, and studied under master teachers such as Twyla Tharp, Jose Limon Company Dancers, and Paul Taylor Company Dancers. After graduating with a B.A. in Dance Education, Eryn completed a 600 hour Pilates Certification Course given by Ellie Herman. She then became a full-time Pilates Instuctor at the Goodson Parker Wellness Center on Manhattan's Upper-East Side specializing in private apparatus, group mat and group fitness instruction. In the 2003 with three years experience under her belt, Eryn joined the staff at Willow Pilates and Yoga where she not only taught private and group classes, but also worked with the studio director, Jenna Shea, to create the training program and certify new Pilates teachers. In the summer of 2004 a new teaching opportunity brought Eryn back to her Chicagoland roots as she was hired by Illinois High School District 128 Libertyville/Vernon Hills and is currently a the full-time Dance Teacher/Fitness Instructor for the Physical Education Department. Extra-curricularly for District 128 Fine Arts Department, Eryn serves as the Orchesis Dance Company Director/Choreographer and the Choreography Director for the annual Musical Theater Productions. Eryn is thrilled to have found the perfect job allowing her to combine her love teaching, fitness, dance and performance. She teaches five classes during each school day of pilates, yoga, cardiovasular exercise, strength and flexibility training, and various forms of dance including jazz, ballet, tap, modern, improvisation and choreography. The school day is followed by three hours of rehearsal for the Fine Arts performances, and seeing her students shine on stage always makes Eryn feel as if the hard work has paid off. Since beginning her tenure at LHS, Eryn has received certifications in Group Fitness, Zumba, Group Cycling, and Yoga. She is also an MFA in Dance Performance and Choreography Candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee 2011.
