About Me
From an early age I have been passionated about sports and fitness. My competitive drive contributed to my success during college as an All American Track and Field athlete. My passion for sports and fitness, coupled with my background as a physical education and health teacher as well as my Track and Field coaching experience at the high school and college level, inspired me to become a group fitness instructor and personal trainer. With well over 35 years of sports and fitness experience, I firmly believe exercising is the basic key to life. According to Abraham Maslow hierarchy of needs, it is only when a persons basic needs such as being physical active are met can she/he turn their thoughts to higher needs, such as love and acceptance.
The beauty of Maslow’s hierarchy is that it not only points us towards self-actualization, but it also reminds us of the importance of our basic needs. Using the analogy of a pyramid helps to remind people of the importance of a having a solid foundation. How can the top of a pyramid ever be supported if the base is eroding away? If the foundation deteriorates, the whole structure must unavoidably fall with it.
