In 2008 I started seriously practicing yoga and found a great joy and enthusiasm for the time spent on my mat. At the beginning of my yogic life I was working part time and couldn't find the resources to pay for yoga classes. It was through the gracious efforts of yogis on youtube that I first began to learn to harness my energy and focus my breath. I checked books out of the library, spoke with everyone I knew who practiced, and gleaned any pearls of yogic wisdom I could. In the summer of 2011 I became a short term resident at Himalayan Institute, a yoga center/ashram in Honesdale PA. Himalayan Institute practices under the teachings and lineage of Swami Rama. Through the guidance and efforts of the various yogis there I deepened my practice and learned about the history, philosophy, and practice of Yoga as well as Auyerveda. In November 2011 I earned my 200 hour yoga teaching certificate from Kripalu School of Yoga.
