My name is Tony Muse and I have been competing and coaching my whole life. At 17 years old I became and still hold the title of the youngest male world champion in the history of skating. Over my career (the international side ended in 2002) I won 18 individual world championships as well as 7 Pan American Games Gold Medals in speed skating. As a father of five (wife teaches Zumba) I retired from the international tour but I still race professionally in America where I am currently racing for Team Bont. I began spinning as part of my own training as the cold Iowa winters made training on skates difficult. After taking the class for a number of years, I was asked if I was interested in teaching which of course I was. I started teaching afternoon (lunch) classes at 7 Flaggs Health and Fitness Center in late 2008 and have continued that class all of the way until now. In 2010, a new high tech health club opened up in Des Moines with fancier equiptment and they asked if I would be interested in teaching there so since October of 2010, I have also been teaching at the YMCA Healthy Living Center which is a completly different group and ambiance then the other venue I teach at. The YMCA has been great as it offers many classes to employees in order for us to develop our knowledge. It is at the YMCA that I took my Group Fitness courses, my CPR courses. my Healthy Lifestyle Priciples course and my Safety Training.

As I mentioned, my wife and I have five children which is why I coach so many different sports. I have licenses in Football, Soccer and of course Speed Skating but only recently have I taken the necessary class hours to gain my Iowa Board of Education Coaches Certification and License to coach at the high school level. Our oldest daughter is a soccer scholarship athlete and Central College and her younger siblings have big ideas as well. I still get after it a fair bit and last year I was fortunate enough to win the 84 mile Iowa State Bike Road Race and I currently play on a nationally ranked men's roller derby team. Some of my adventures can be caught at www.tonymuse.com.

I love teaching spinning and I have been told that my classes are unique in that they have such high energy and are so intense that few classes are similar. I look forward to having the opportunity to teach more people and places.
