Melanie Nichols

Fitness is something that I am passionate about, both personally and professionally. I am the mother of four sons. When my first two sons were little, I knew I needed to be in shape to keep up with their day to day energy! I began training for a 5K, starting with just being able to run a mile. After my first race, I thought that I would never race again. I transitioned to fitness classes, and thought it would be cool to teach someday. I am a member of a large and active church in my community. I felt that we could have a successful fitness ministry if someone were willing to teach (for free!) After finding instructors to teach kickboxing, I decided to try my hand at teaching step aerobics. Over the next ten years or so, I saw the ministry thrive. We were able to train and mentor new instructors and ministered to hundreds of people from the community. After my next two sons were born, I began thinking that just being in great shape wasn't enough for me. I set my goal for a sprint triathlon. There were three problems: I wasn't a good swimmer, I didn't have a bike, and I hated running!!! Despite my shortcomings, I have been triathlon training and racing since 2004. While I will never be able to win a race, I am always pushing myself to go farther. I have raced numerous sprint distance triathlons, olympic distance triathlons, and even a marathon and a half ironman! In 2010, I wasn't sure what I was going to do when my youngest son started Kindergarten.  When I heard that my favorite instructor at the gym was moving, I was sad. But, I also thought it would be a good time to get my certification to teach and get paid to do what I am passionate about: Fitness!

Out of all the formats of I teach, yoga is my favorite.  I personally love Power Yoga, where I include arm-balances, inversions, and power movement.  During Covid, I earned my 200hr YTT with Carson Clay Calhoun, who is well known for his Rocket-Inspired Yoga Style.

I teach a wide variety of yoga classes, to a wide variety of students.  Everything is adaptable, and yoga is for EVERYONE!!!
