I first discovered yoga in 2002 through a Bryan Kest video tape and fell in love with the practice because it was
physically stimulating. At the end of high school and beginning of
college, I went through a few turbulent years and major life struggles.
Upon returning to the University of Minnesota in 2006, I enrolled Yoga
1001 and 1002 as electives, reconnecting to yoga and diving deeper into
the spiritual aspect the practice has to offer. I became a dedicated
yogi after taking my first Ashtanga Yoga class in 2006 at One Yoga
Center in Minneapolis because it required strength, dedication, stamina,
and involved a form of spiritual and mental discipline that she had not
found in anything else. I quickly fell in love with the practice,
making yoga class a staple to my daily routines and a drive to learn
more about yoga and the various facets it has. I began to notice major
life altering changes, including how I took care of myself and how I
viewed the things and people around me both on and off the mat. In 2009 I
graduated with a degree in Psychology and moved to North Carolina for a
job opportunity. I discovered the local studio in Fayetteville, NC and
started going to class on a daily basis' I was soon asked to start
teaching classes there myself! Since then, I have been committed to
practicing yoga on a daily basis, seeking out various styles,
instructors, and information to further develop as a yogi. In September
2011 I became certified to teach yoga with the Yax Brothers through Yax
Yoga Concepts. My goal is to continue to learn as much as I can and to
help spread the amazing gift that yoga has to offer to as many people as
possible!
