I started working out at the age of about 14.  I was skinny and played hockey so I wanted to get bigger and stronger.  I have (and continue to) played hockey, soccer, volleyball, baseball, and football (in school).  I am very competitive and possibly vain.  I have always worked out to stay fit for my sports and of course to be happy with the image in the mirror.  For many years friends and local gym "rats" would ask me how to perform an exercise, what type of workouts could get them where they wanted, why was I doing what I was doiong, etc.  Many times I would end up training these people for little to no pay.  I found that I really enjoyed helping others achieve their goals.  I liked how it made them feel to succeed so I decided to become certified and try and make a living what I had already been doing.  I am now 50 years old and I still compete at high levels and my competitive brain still drives me to get stronger and faster.  I still make improvements and in fact my vertical jump is better now than it was 15 years ago.
