Fitness has become a way of life for me, and my family.  After experiencing years of discomfort and fatigue due to an illness, and after having surgery and addressing the illness, I am having the time of my life teaching fitness classes.  I have so much enjoyed getting back into the gym the past two years, and discovered that I love teaching others how to stay active, and have fun while exercising.  My enthusiasm rubbed off on my family. My husband attended a yoga class with me two years ago and laughed the whole way through and could not touch his toes.  He persevered and fell in love with yoga. He became an instructor last year, and now he and I both teach classes at several YMCA branches. We take our daughters with us to our classes and they now have an appreciation for fitness and exercise. We spend Saturday mornings together attending a yoga class together.

I have taught several diffent formats, my favorite being Zumba. It allows my creative juices to flow and my inner dancer come out. (I grew up dancing and taught childrens dance classes for two years.)  I also love working with the elderly and mobililty-challenged in my SilverSneaker classes. And I also love yoga. I will be certified by mid-March to teach yoga at the YMCA.

My attitude towards fitness is that everyone can do something, and finding a class or format that you have fun in is the secret. I try very hard to make everyone feel welcome and confident, and I demonstrate on different levels so participants can find what works for them. I believe in appreciating your body and its limitations. I hope to be active the rest of my life, and intend to keep teaching classes for years to come.
