Carol Gerstenberger

I am a newly certified Zumba instructor and ZIN member and want to add to your already thriving set of classes and instructors. I have taught exercise  and dance classes before in the US and abroad. I have a coaching degree with an emphasis on personal training from Pacific Lutheran University which gave me information on modification moves, injury rehabilitation techniques, taping injuries as well as detailed information on the human body, muscles and ligaments. With this information I can safely encourage participants to push their bodies to levels that they never would if they worked out alone. Not only am I certified, educated and passionate- but for the last two years, I have been teaching classrooms (K-12) and have built confidence in knowing that I can handle most situations. 

 I have been teaching in the Franklin Pierce School District which has given me countless parallels to teaching a Zumba class in your gym. I have experience of being in front of groups ranging class sizes from 15-62.  I am experienced at open-communication between teachers when I need help, suggestions, or just to relax during breaks. This can be related to teaching Zumba because I believe that there is always room for improvement and I will gladly take suggestions from other instructors or participants. I am very comfortable speaking in front of groups of strangers and I know how to handle myself with quick decisions. I am also excellent of coming up with more to teach on the spot which is great if a Zumba class is fast learning- I will never run out of things to teach! 

I’m younger than most group exercise instructors, which gives me an advantage because I am newly educated, and being a fast learner, I have chosen to continue my education to become a Zumba instructor because I have a deep passion for teaching and dancing. I am self-motivated and stay on top of the trends in Zumba and I am dedicated to giving every participant/ dancer a complete workout- with modifications- so that everyone not only leaves smiling, but also feeling worked.

I grew up in CO and was part of a 6 day a week professional dance troupe. We traveled and were constantly challenged with choreography. I am confident that because of my background in dance that teaching Zumba will feel natural and I will excel at it. 

When I become a Zumba Instructor I will be passionate, kind, inspiring, and a motivator. I have taken numerous group classes and have narrowed down what I like about each instructor and their style of teaching. I am passionate, organized, professional, and excited to finally be teaching latin dancing! Thank you for your time, I’m sure you have many people contacting you to be hired.
