My name is Laura Bookman it is a pleasure to share my passion and fitness experience with your organization. I have been actively involved in the science and service of health and fitness since 1997. I first entered the industry as an AFAA certified Fitness Instructor. I teach a wide variety of traditional and specialty aerobic classes. I enjoyed the energy of teaching and the benefits of staying active so much that I received a B.S. Degree in Exercise Physiology and a M.S. Degree in Health Promotion and Facility Management from Western Illinois University.
After college, I continued my professional career in management. I have been blessed to have managed both corporate fitness facility, as well as, a large multi-purpose commercial medical fitness department. Recently, I have made a shift into the private higher education sector. I am currently the Department Chair – Fitness Trainer at Sanford-Brown College. I am directing a CPT Program in partnership with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. As well as instructing a college success course and anatomy and physiology.
