I was born in Chicago, IL where I started social salsa dancing in 8th grade. I then moved to California for college and continued salsa dancing and running. During college I marched in the Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps for a summer (think professional marching band) which whipped me into shape and got me far more interested in my personal fitness. After graduation, I took a year to travel the world and ended up living and working in Sydney, Australia for 6 months. It was there that my cousin talked me into going to my first group fitness class. I was hooked from that first class (Les Mills Body Attack). I got my own membership and started attending 2 classes a day. Upon returning to the states, I was back in Chicago for a few months and continued taking Zumba and Body Combat classes. It was that Zumba instructor who inspired me to be just like her when I grow up and who talked me into getting my own license now, and not when I grow up (because who knows when that will be?) Long story short, my love for and dedication to group fitness has only grown since I discovered it in 2009 and I love nothing more than spreading that love as a Zumba instructor!
