PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

As of 2012, I’ve officially been in the fitness industry for over 10 years. In that time, I’ve done and seen a little bit of everything. From 2000-2002 I was strength and conditioning coach at the Air Force of Nicaragua. While there, I was primarily responsible for working with the swimming team, running team and provide strength and conditioning programs for officers of the Air Force.

At that same time, I was working towards completing my Degree in System Engineer, but fortunately discovered that was not my passion which lead me to Costa Rica where I continued doing what I really love, fitness, while there I established myself as a personal trainerI provided my services in one on one and in group settings, in several exclusive beach resort, clubs and fitness facilities,I primarily worked with weight management, performance and rehabilitation clients. This is where I was really introduced to the assessment process, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and corrective exercise as a whole. After 5 years of living in Costa Rica, I moved to Canada, very shortly after my arriving to Canada I re-started my career as a Personal Trainer in Toronto where I provided my services to clients at one of Bally Total Fitness location which today is Extreme Fitness, where I have been providing my services for the last 6 years and also in home or fitness studio.

Since 2010 I  had the idea of   start something of my own, but the puzzle was a bit complicated for me that it took me a year to put pieces together and to finally create The Body’s Mechanic Training System site in 20012, all about corrective exercises, injury prevention and functional strength training and conditioning.

So that’s my professional background – here is a little bit about me from my athletic and coaching perspective.

ATHLETIC AND COACHING BACKGROUND

I have been involved in sports and  fitness since I was in  elementary school where I was a member  of the Provincial Running Team,  competing  at  1500, 3000 and 5000 meters, I also competed  at  National  Level  at 800 meters, and twice took the challenge to run a marathon.

At the Nicaraguan Air Force I had the opportunity to become a member of the Air Force Competitive Swimming Team and the Running Team. While I was in Costa Rica I found out that I like to play soccer and that I was good at it so joined beach soccer club, since then soccer became definitely my favourite sport. I always wanted to learn the core lifts of the big movements and become functional stronger so when I got to Toronto I started working on building my strength for those movements. Currently my weight is 168 lbs, I dead -lift 455 lbs, I front squat 315 lbs ,  I back squat 420 lbs,  I bench 255  lbs, I overhead press 215 lbs and starting to work on Olympic lifting.

I was pretty lucky to coach some amazing female and male bodybuilder’s athletes who has placed 1st and second on their category. I also had the opportunity to work with   Personal trainers who needed a corrective exercise program to eliminate back, knees or shoulder pain and improve their performances and numbers as well.

I also have the privilege to help many female clients who have gone through spine, knee and shoulder surgery, clients with scoliosis, clients with all kind of injuries to be able to dead lift up to 245lbs, squat 225 and bench press 135 lbs with not pain and be able to drastically improve their body composition at the same time. it was awesome to see that…..
