Hi! I’m Rebecca Mactas-Smith and I am very excited to be part of the Fit Bodies, Inc. adventure. I grew up in New York and graduated with a Master of Science degree from Walden University. For the last twelve years, I’ve worked full time for the state of New York in education. I am a currently an English teacher for the Ellenville Central School District. During the past few years, I developed an interest in weight loss and fitness. I started by taking hard-core boot camp classes three times a week and began running.
I initially discovered Pilates through a friend who has been teaching it for years. I was drawn to Pilates because it emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility and awareness. Since I truly enjoyed taking Pilates classes, I started taking classes three times a week, for two hours a day. I was amazed by the transformation of my body in a short amount of time. Thus, I’ve decided to turn my enjoyment for practicing Pilates into teaching it as well. I am certified as a Pilates Mat Instructor by Power Pilates in New York and trained by them also. I am looking forward to continuing my Power Pilates education.
In addition, I have taught group fitness classses which are cardio based.
- Cardio workouts may include: jumping rope, running/jogging, walking, sprinting, beach sprinting and aerobic exercises.
-
Cardio toning workouts may include:
jumping jacks, push-ups, snake push-ups, mountain climbers, burpees, lunges, squats, lateral high hops, resistance bands, step-ups, weights, kettle bells, swimmers, stairclimbing, sit-ups, planks, mary katherines etc.
I worked at a women's fitness facility for almost two years. Since they have closed, I have taught:
- Fitness Bootcamp: A type of outdoor group exercise class that mixes traditional calisthenic and body weight exercises with interval training and strength training.
- Body Sculpting: A strength training workout that combines flexibility and cardiovascular conditioning using just one set of 5-pound (each) dumbbells. It is designed to shape and tone the body without building muscular size or bulk.
- Body Power Classes: Inspired by sports interval cardio workouts for building strength and stamina. A high-training class combines athletic aerobic movements with strength and stabilization exercise designed to burn fat and tone muscles.
- Weight Training: This class challenges all your major muscle groups by using the exercises like squats, curls, and presses. It is intended for increased metabolism and muscle gain. Retro Cardio: A high impact class is full of sweating and moving!
- Melt Down Classes: A series of fat burning exercises.
Currently, I only teach part time; private sessions and group classes. I am always ready for new experiences and fun adventures. Furthermore, I enjoy traveling, running, and going to the Caribbean. I am eager and excited to travel resorts and be able to share my enthusiasm for physical fitness and wellness with others.
