Erin Bransford

Hello,

My name is Erin Bransford and I currently work full-time as the Coordinator for Fitness & Wellbeing at Portland State University Campus Rec.  I have been working in Fitness since 2005 and have been surrounded by fitness my entire life.  Growing up my mom was a Fitness Instructor and then Director at a local health club and some of my earliest memories are in the gym.

My passion is for Group Fitness and Triathlons and I also love Personal Training, Wellbeing Programming, and Student Development.  I have been working in the Fitness Industry since 2005, initially teaching Group Fitness classes, then expanding into Personal Training, Fitness Management, and finally Health Promotion and Wellbeing.  My specialties are Indoor Cycle, Group Strength, Stretch & Flexibility, P90X, and Bootcamp classes. I also have experience teaching Water, Step, Kickboxing, and Yoga and sub the occasional Pilates class.  In these classes I have worked with students who are visually impaired, hearing impaired, and wheelchair users which has helped my verbal and visual cueing and ability to modify exercises significantly.  Given the fact that resort guests may not always speak English, I believe my experiences teaching with visual cues will help me be more successful in a resort setting.

In addition to my Group Fitness Instruction background, I have coached dozens of athletes to the completion of their first triathlon or road race and love exercising outdoors.  I have competed in every distance of triathlon from Sprint to Ironman and train heavily in swimming, biking, and running outside of my Group Fitness classes.  I have also worked with a wide variety of Personal Training clients from the completely sedentary, to the competitive endurance athlete, to the 75 year old trying to improve balance and activities of daily living.  In addition, at Portland State University I have worked with a very culturally diverse population including students from Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Chile, India, China, Lebanon, and many more.

Since the birth of my second daughter I have taken a hiatus from teaching vacations and am thrilled to return to this fantastic adventure. I consistently receive feedback that my positive attitude, enthusiasm, and passion for teaching is immediately evident in my Group Fitness classes. I love sharing this energy with others and adding to the memories and experience of their vacations.

I can't wait to get back at it!

Sincerely,

Erin
