Philly Mendelson

Philly Mendelson, M.Ed., is the creator of Philly's Fountain of Youth - Fitness and Wellness classes for women and men in the prime of life.  Everything women and men need to know to optimize health - from preparing foods that truly nourish, to working out smarter, not harder, to living a passionate, purposeful and balanced life, Philly teaches the simple practices that can profoundly change how you look and feel.   Her Fountain of Youth Fitness class is specifically designed to address the many aspects of fitness important to those in their prime and who want to stay that way!  A cancer survivor and student of yoga for more than 35 years, Philly is a passionate advocate for creating one's own health and has a zeal for helping others in their quest to optimize wellness on all levels.

Philly is a graduate of Boston University and Lesley University  with dual master's degrees in Diet and Exercise therapy and Sexuality and Health.  She has been studying natural health practices since the age of 17 when she first realized that food had a big influence on health.  Ironically, Philly also spent 15 years as a professional pastry chef in New York City, Aspen, Boulder and Denver - where she was executive pastry chef for Jax Fish House and the Zolo grill.  Philly won numerous awards for both her decadent and healthy "Sweetsmart" creations - including Best of Westword in 1995.  

Philly's many years of yoga study and teaching include certification as a Kundalini yoga teacher and over 400 hours of extensive study in Anusara yoga, having studied with some of the nation's top Anusara teachers including John Friend, Madhuri Martin and Jamie Allison.  Philly began her yoga studies in the 1970's with Iyengar yoga and then Bikram yoga.  Today, she blends those many styles plus meditation and gigong into her yogaflow classes. 

As a healing foods coach, Philly has extensive experience with diets for those with compromised digestion and chronic illness and blends her knowledge of raw foods, traditional ancestral/Paleolithic, Ayurvedic, and metabolic typing philosophies, to help clients create a highly personalized eating plan.  Philly's "healthy in a hurry" cooking classes are a great way to learn to incorporate rejuvenative foods into one's diet.

Philly continues to research anti-aging practices and hosts seasonal retreats with classes on natural skin care, green living, self-massage and an array of health topics important to all women. Philly is an avid cyclist and still loves tearing it up on the dance floor.  She resides in beautiful Genesee (Golden) Colorado.
