Shawn Sherman

Both my twin brother and I grew up playing sports and being active - baseball, wrestling, basketball, running and fishing. When I went to college, I wanted to find a career that would allow me to be active and to promote healthy living. I received a degree from Penn State and had the opportunity to begin my personal training career right in State College, PA working at a studio. I moved to the Chicagoland area about 1 year after graduating from college. I started my own personal training company about 1.5 after moving to Illinois. My company, Peak Performance, has grown from ~10 in-home weekly personal training sessions to ~75 weekly studio sessions with 5 part-time trainers working for me. In 2002, I heard about Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) and enrolled in their 10 month internship program. I became Illinois' first MAT Therapist and many doors have opened for me ever since. I work with many doctor referred patients dealing with various pain disorders and many elite athletes (over 2 dozen professional and former Olympians) looking for a performance edge. In October 2004, I launched a second business, Activated Movement, that specializes in MAT. I met my beautiful wife Lisa in 2000 and we were married in 2001. Our daughter, Evelyn, was born on October 20, 2003. The three of us, along with our two dogs, live in Minooka, Illinois.
