Dawn began dancing at the age of six at Jane Burns School of Dance in Columbus, Indiana and studied there for most of her formative years under the direction of Margie Thilmont and Irene Hand (London’s Royal Academy of Dance). After high school, she continued her studies at Indiana University’s School Ballet Conservatory with Melissa Lowe and Jean Pierre Bonnefoux. She has studied with many talented professionals including Jeremy Blanton, Michael Williams, Patricia McBride, Joe Tremaine, Doug Caldwell, Desiree Robbins, Mandy Moore, Michelle Assaf, and Finis Jhung along with many others. After retiring from performing in 2007 with the Andanté Performance Company, she dedicated herself to teaching and choreographing for young aspiring dancers. Over the past 20 years, she has taught ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, all forms of Zumba Fitness (Toning, Gold, etc), Pilates Mat, and Yogilates classes. Her students have gone on to study and dance professionally with Joffrey Ballet, Indiana Ballet Conservatory, American Ballet Theater, Alvin Ailey, Boston Ballet, and Finis Jhung. She is currently teaching dance and fitness in the Boston area.
