Angie is 200 RYT certified with the Yoga Alliance and has been practicing yoga since 1997. Angie practiced yoga for her own personal well-being and spiritual growth with Stacey Reeves before joining Universal Spirit Yoga as an instructor for kids' yoga in 2003. Angie currently teaches all ages of yoga from babies to adults at Shine in Louisville, KY. She also teaches after school yoga and hoop programs at Bloom Elementary, Chance, and Coleridge Taylor Elementary in KY. Her most recent certification is with Acharya Yogendradev's 200 hour Spontaneous Yoga Teacher Training, completed October 2006. In March of 2006 she was certified Helen Garabedian's program, Itsy Bitsy Yoga®. Angie attended the Teacher Training program for YogaKids® with Marsha Wenig in March of 2003. She is a graduate of Radiant Child certification, level I and II with Shakta Kaur Kalsa and the Indigo Child Yoga Teacher training with Pamela Holland.
Angie embraces new opportunities to learn, so she may keep her teachings and practice current and fresh. She has a strong background in dance which has prepared her with the discipline that is been helpful in her yoga. For the past four years she has been teaching and preforming Hoop Dance Yoga, a fusion of Hula Hooping, Dance and Yoga. She teaches kids, teens and adult hoop classes at Shine in Louisville, KY. As a student of Hoop Dance Angie has been studying under Jonathon Baxter of The HoopPath and other instructors that have taught at the HoopPath retreats. She hopes to share her spontaneous spirit with the children and adults who join her classes. Her other experiences includes privates yoga classes for children with special needs, teaching yoga or hoop dance to girl scout troops, special yoga or hoop classes at local schools and businesses, workshops and birthday parties. Last summer Angie taught Yoga and Hoop Dance at two different summer camps in Louisville, KY. Two weeks at the Nature center and two weeks and the Earth and Spirit Center. She taught Hoop Dance at Snow Flow Fest 2011 and 2012; Angie has also participated in several health fairs to bring awareness to the community.
Angie has performed at such notable events as The Sirens CD Release party, The Phoenix Hill Fest, ABC7 Chicago Hoop Dance Yoga Demonstration for the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, and many more. She enjoys performance but her passion is teaching and learning!
On a personal note, Angie moved to Louisviulle,KY 1-1/2 years ago from Chicago, IL and is eager to share her knowledge, experience, love of yoga and hoop dance with the Louisville community. Angie has a strong love for music and travel; she has traveled all around the world. During her most recent trip, she explored Antarctica and South America. Angie is an outdoor enthusiast and loves to find herself surrounded by nature. Her love for nature, dance, music, children, and yoga have inspired her to teach yoga; she has ambitions to nurture anyone interested in learning how to develop and maintain a strong and loving mind, body, and soul.
